Heian-jingu, Kyoto

By September 15, 2014Japan, Kyoto

The Heian Shrine (平安神宮, Heian-jingū) is a Shinto shrine located in Sakyō-ku, Kyoto. While the architecture alone makes it worth a visit, the gardens are what really make it a special place. If you’re in the area be sure to check out the nearby art museums, including the excellent Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art and if you’re lucky there is often a craft market across the road too.
