Day trip to Himeji castle

By September 19, 2015Japan

Dating back to 1333, the magnificent Himeji castle has survived earthquakes, wars and millions of tourists. It’s definitely the finest castle in all of Japan and one of my favourite places in the world.

In 2015, the five year renovation (mainly of the walls and roof) was complete and it’s brilliant white roof looks stunning in the Summer sunshine. Just a short train ride from Kobe or Osaka, it’s a must-see if you’re in the Kansai region.

Below are a few pics from my day trip there last week. For more info check out Japan Guide or the Himeji City tourist guide.
